BTTS Explained: Both Teams to Score, Yes and No

BTTS means “both teams to score”. Yes requires each team to score at least once during the specified period. No wins when at least one team scores zero, including a 0–0 result. The winner of the match does not determine the BTTS outcome.

Which scores win BTTS Yes?

Completed match in the specified period
ScoreYesNo
0–0LossWin
1–1WinLoss
3–1WinLoss
5–0LossWin

A five-goal match can lose BTTS Yes. A two-goal match can win it. Two possible selections do not mean that each has a 50% chance.

How is BTTS different from over 2.5?

Over 2.5 needs at least three goals in total. BTTS Yes needs a goal from each side. At 1–1, BTTS Yes wins and over 2.5 loses. At 3–0, over 2.5 wins and BTTS Yes loses. These markets overlap without being interchangeable.

A combined “Team A to win and BTTS Yes” selection requires both conditions. A 1–1 draw satisfies BTTS but loses that combined selection. A 2–0 home win also loses it. Read “and” literally.

How do you calculate the return?

A hypothetical 20-unit cash stake at 1.80 returns 36 if it wins, including the original 20. Net profit is 16. A losing selection returns zero and loses the 20-unit stake. A full void returns the stake with no profit, subject to the applicable rules.

Attacking form, injuries or historical BTTS rates can be inputs to an assessment. None establishes a future score, and an old head-to-head sample is not a verified probability.

Do extra time, penalties and own goals count?

Use the period shown on the slip. A normal full-match market commonly excludes extra time and penalty shoot-outs; a first-half BTTS market requires both goals in that half. A valid penalty goal during the covered period counts as a goal. An own goal is credited according to the official score. Disallowed goals do not count.

What if the match is abandoned?

Do not infer settlement from a screenshot or another bookmaker. Check the operator’s rules for that market and whether the outcome was already determined.
