Where should you start?

If the terms are new to you, follow the suggested reading order. If you have a specific question, go straight to its lesson.

  1. Understand the bet slip and settlement.
  2. Read decimal odds, then calculate returns and net profit.
  3. Explore 1X2 and double chance, single bets and accumulators, and goal totals.
  4. Review money and time limits, expected value, bookmaker margin and loss chasing and FOMO.

Lessons by topic

20 lessons covering foundations, markets, calculations and risk.

Betting Returns and Net Profit: How to Calculate Your Result

The total return is the amount received after settlement and may include the original stake. The net result is the sum of returns received minus the stakes on the settled bets. The number of winning selections alone does not tell you whether you made money.

Betting Bankroll Management: Limits, Flat Stakes and Percentage Stakes

A betting bankroll is money allocated to that activity, separate from living expenses or borrowed funds. Managing stakes and time may limit spending, but it does not make betting safe or turn a negative-expectation selection into guaranteed profit. A maximum limit is not a spending target.

1X2 and Double Chance Explained: What 1X, X2 and 12 Mean

In a 1X2 market, 1 means the first team wins, X means a draw and 2 means the second team wins. Double chance covers two outcomes: 1X, X2 or 12. The football examples here use 90 minutes plus stoppage time unless the market rules specify otherwise.

Single Bets and Accumulators: Calculating Returns and Combined Probability

A single bet concerns one selection. An ordinary accumulator, also called an express bet, requires all its selections to win and multiplies their odds together. A larger potential return comes with a harder condition for success; combining strong-looking selections does not guarantee a winning slip.

Total Goals Betting Explained: Under 2.5 vs Under 2.0

Total-goals betting concerns the number of goals in a defined period, rather than which team wins. Under 2.5 wins with two goals or fewer. Under 2.0 on an ordinary two-way Asian line wins with zero or one goal and returns the stake when there are exactly two.

What Is Value Betting? Expected Value and Fair Odds Explained

An ordinary win-or-lose bet without fees has positive expected value if its true winning probability multiplied by its decimal odds exceeds 1. The difficulty is that the true probability is not known with certainty. Confidence in your own estimate does not establish that a bet has value.

Bookmaker Margin Explained: How to Calculate the Overround

Overround is the sum of implied probabilities for all mutually exclusive outcomes covering a complete market, minus 100%. It cannot be calculated from one price alone, and it does not necessarily equal the bookmaker’s realised profit or your expected loss.

Bonus explanations and account guides on HostDoha

These lessons explain general concepts. Registration and offers depend on the country, account and current terms. Practical instructions are covered on their own pages:

A bonus is not immediately withdrawable profit. Reading this handbook does not establish that betting is available or lawful where you are. See the guide to legal status and restrictions in Qatar where relevant.

Sources and how this edition was prepared

We reviewed 352 text posts: 75 from Arbet Academy in Arabic, dated 7 July–27 October 2026, and 277 from Betting Academy in English, dated 18 July 2025–1 October 2026. Theory is organised into 20 lessons in each language and a 40-term glossary. Posts beyond each archive’s end date are not included.

The English export also contains 6 polls with readable text and 6 photo messages whose image files were not included in the HTML export. The polls concern channel topics, giveaways and matches, so they have not been republished as theory lessons. The missing photos have not been analysed or transcribed. Registration and app instructions link to the existing practical guides.

Daily predictions, match news, giveaways and expired promotions have not been turned into evergreen lessons. Historical matches have been replaced with worked examples where appropriate, distinguishing implied probability from true probability and returns from profit.

Editorial corrections cover quarter-line settlement, ROI versus yield, and the limits of claims about CLV or reduced stake limits. Unsupported universal margin percentages, success rates and profit guarantees are not presented as established facts.

HostDoha prepared and edited the articles from both channels; the source posts are linked under each lesson. This does not imply that the original authors reviewed every translated sentence. Corrections and editorial contact.
